On June 29–30, 2024, the Spielmannszug Radeberg participated in the World Championships of the World Association of Marching Show Bands (WAMSB) in Rastede, Germany. The international competition brought together 78 ensembles with 3,500 musicians from 10 nations.

Double Triumph on the World Stage

It was the first international competition for the Radeberg ensemble and it turned into a historic success.

On Saturday, the band competed in the Street Parade category and achieved 89.10 points, winning 1st place and earning the World Champion title. On Sunday, they performed in the Marching category and received 90.593 points, securing 2nd place internationally and the title of Vice World Champion.

This unexpected victory, including outperforming the favorites, marks the greatest success in the club’s history outside of Germany. The result reflects more than 120 hours of training under the direction of drum major Jeanine-Lysette Eisner.

The World Championships were not the only highlight of the season: on June 8, 2024, the group also won the 34th Saxon State Championships in Zabeltitz. In 2014, they had already gained national recognition with a bronze medal at the German Championships in Helbra.
