Welcome!

Welcome to the Radeberg Marching Band where history meets music in a blend of tradition and performance. We are from a small town near Dresden, Saxony. Our Marching Band is known both nationally and internationally for our unique performances at events and competitions. Here you can learn more about us:

Our Musical Journey

Established in 1968, the our musical journey is deeply connected to tradition. Our ensemble features the classic instruments of a Marching Band, including the flute, snare drum, lyre, cymbals, and bass drum. With an extensive repertoire including  traditional marches, beloved tunes, as well as modern and classical arrangements, we bring the joy of music to parades, concerts, and historical reenactments.

Embracing History

Our musical performances are enriched by our authentic attire. We wear historically-inspired uniforms after the example of the Saxon Infantry Regiment „Prinz Friedrich August“ from around 1810 and are so a visual focal point at every event. Known for our traditional accuracy, we are especially delighted to be regularly invited to celebrations with a historical context. We often perform at events connected to Napoleon’s battles around Europe like the 200 year Commemoration of the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig 2013, the reenactment of the Battle of Borodino near Moscow in 2019 and many more.

From Dresden to the World

Our reach extends far beyond our local roots, as we proudly represent Saxony on both national and international stages.

National highlights of our performances include:

  • participation at the Munich Oktoberfest Parade (2003, 2007, 2010, 2018 and 2023)
  • participants of the Dresden Stollen Festival (yearly)
  • 200 year Commemoration of the anniversary of the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig (2013)
  • Guest appearance in the ARD TV show „Musikantenstadl“ (2009)

Internationally, we have been part of  iconic events and reenactments like:

  • the Steuben Parade in New York, USA (2008)
  • the reenactment of Napoléon & Josephine wedding in Paris, France (2014)
  • participation in the reenactment of the battle of  Königgrätz in the Czech Republic (2016)
  • the Battle of Lützen in (2019)
  • reenactment of the Battle of Borodino near Moscow, Russia (2019)

Competitions

Our commitment to excellence is evident in our numerous victories at the Saxon State Championships, where we showcase precision, accuracy and skill in our music and marching performances. Weekly rehearsals and regular training camps ensure our continued growth and success. Notably, we were able to win third place at the German Championships in 2014 and bring a bronze medal back to our hometown Radeberg. In 2024 we are set to compete at the World Championships of the World Association of Marching Showbands in Rastede.
